Tsunami takes a friend

I was back in the US helping out my family and visiting when I received an email detailing how tragedy strikes instantly. The tsunami in the Samoas wiped out villages, boats and a friend of ours. Dan and his wife Joan gave us some great touring advice for northern Peru when we were anchored in Ecuador together. Dan was swept from the boat and drowned. It is so sad.

Another boat we know was swept though the town and all torn up. The owner was forced to grab what he could and abandon it to looters who were harrassing him.

It reminds me that sometimes even if things seem bad, they could be a lot worse and it could happen in an instant. Be happy for right now.

Hey Eric & Sherrell,

Sorry, to read you lost a sailing pal, in the Samoan tsunami...

Yes, it's me MENG MUI from Singapore and keeping myself updated of your adventures via your slog....

And yes, there's been movements and the weather playing havoc in this (and most part) of the world....
If you don't already know... shakes are felt in high rise buildings too in Singapore, whenever there is an earthquake in Indonesia...
About 10 days ago, up at Yio Chu Kang road, there were shakes felt by residents of apartments from as low as 4 storeys!! so I am not surprised that our fellow friends out at Mot Excellence & Innovations centre felt it as well. Though, I hear the number of human occupants left cannot match the # of pieces of office furniture, after major & frequent Co. restructuring!! Very bad situation here...

Anyway, keep safe and good to know Sherrell is good and cancer free!!! Will keep praying for both of you... till then. MM
